i-EXCEL Begins Here!!!

DEAR TRAINORS of "i-EXCEL" TEAMS found in all our Sites, Corners and Ministries,

Before anything else, we must be sure that our FOUNDATION is PRAYER in the will and in the purposes of God.

I am including this INSTRUCTIONAL READING MATERIAL BELOW for all of us to know, understand and be soaked in this idea.
[BORROWED FROM A MANUAL FOR SUCCESSFUL SPIRITUAL CAMPAIGNS]

How to Build Our Team?

The Starting Point is Prayer!!!

In these days where so many leaders are used to trafficking in action plans and strategic goal-setting, it would be easy to quickly move to a list of steps and a prescribed approach for recruiting effective Campaign Team members.
But rather than starting with a discussion of skilled recruitment or inspired vision-casting, the starting point of this i-EXCEL Campaign must be PRAYER!!!

As we begin to pray for our church and the Campaign THANKSGIVING 2016 i-EXCEL, one of the most critical elements to pray about is Our Campaign Team.

  • LET'S ask God who He wants on the TEAM. The tendency for some will be to run out, make a few phone calls and begin to fill the open slots on the Campaign Team. Yet, there may be someone in our church that we wouldn’t have thought of, but who has gifts that are just waiting to be used on our Campaign Team! There are people there who have tremendous gifts and talents who must be part of our "i-EXCEL" Campaign Team! God has been preparing them for such a time as this, and we will discover His Campaign Team as we PRAY.

i-Excel TEACHING Synopsis
[contributed by Senior Pastor Eric Negado, His Life SOUTH]

Following his first letter to the church in Corinth, Paul is still inspiring the people of Corinth to open their pocketbooks for the fund he is taking up for Christians in Jerusalem.

Making the Macedonian church as an example, Paul praises the Christians in Macedonia telling the Corinthian people that, the Macedonian church even though they don't have a ton of money; they gave very generously to the collection. Now, Paul has asked Titus to return to Corinth to collect some cash.
The Corinthian are great at everything: they're faithful, they speak well, and they’re knowledgeable, eager, and loving. Now they just have to add "generosity" to that list.

November 6: Kick off

Title: iEXCEL in Life – (In everything)
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NLT)
7 Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us—I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.

If we are asked what we would like to improve in our Christian walk, we would likely say things like knowing the Word of God better, more loving to our neighbor, being more faithful in our lives, knowing how to talk about our faith more effectively, etc. But, the word of God adds one that might not be as high on the list in our minds: God wants us to grow in our generosity.

The context of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians specifically Chapter 8 is “The Corinthians are challenged to Excel in Giving”. He said that “since you already” excel in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love. – reminding them that they have been enriched in every way —with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge  (1 Cor. 1:5) -Then, he adds this: “See that you also excel in this grace of giving.” He says, right along with all these big Christian virtues like love, faith and knowledge that we need to be pursuing this grace of giving. And that’s not just pursuing on the side; but excelling.

What do you think of when you think of someone excelling? In whatever ways we have been gifted to be generous, whether with our time, our talents, or our treasure, God wants excellence in how we give those away. Don’t be mistaken; God doesn’t love you better because you give generously. But, because God has loved us so much, we can now go forth and live generously.

November 13: WEEK ONE

Title: iEXCEL in Faith
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)
7 But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge,

Everyone has faith. I have faith when I come into a building and sit down on a chair -- faith that the chair will hold me up.  Faith is a gift that everyone has. But we apply faith with different results, we could say that there is a kindergarten level of faith, a grade-school level, a high-school level, a college level and so on. It is the same faith, but being exercised on a different level.

.
For whatever reason, God chose faith to be the primary basis of relating to Him. This faith is not only demonstrated by belief but also by action. God wants us to excel, to be superabundant, to have more than enough and spare, to be over and above in the operation of our faith for His glory. We are to practise faith by using it every day, every moment of the day. Faith is the only thing that pleases God and our experience of His kingdom depends on what we are able to believe. We are called to excel in faith.

November 20: WEEK TWO

Title: iEXCEL in LOVE
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)
7 But since you excel in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you
—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

Giving is a natural response of love, the Corinthian believers excelled in everything they had-faith, good preaching (speech), much knowledge, much earnestness, much love. Paul wanted them to also be leaders in giving.

Paul did not order the Corinthians to give, but he encouraged them to prove that their love was sincere.
When you love someone, you want to give him or her your time and attention and to provide for his or her needs.
If you refuse to help, your love is not as genuine as you say.

You might be surprise but when the Apostle Paul used the word “since you” referring to the time God enriched them in every way (1 Cor.1:5) he connected it in excelling in love for them. In what  he and others taught and did for them (in the love we have inspired in you). Other text says; to excel "in your love for us", and Paul was the one who was teaching them the Word of God. We, as believers need to find ways to excel in love for our leaders. Let's love our leaders and teachers to life! This is God’s will for us. Let's excel in our love for them.

November 27: WEEK THREE

Title: iEXCEL in Giving
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NLT)
7 Since you excel in so many ways.. I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.

It is very interesting that having gone through excelling in spiritual matters in I Corinthians 14:12, and excelling in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness, in your love, there was still one area where the Corinthians very much needed to exercise excellence -- the area of giving.  Like doing something or playing an instrument, giving is a skill. With practice, we get better at it. We can learn to give more, give more often, and give more strategically. We teach the pursuit of excellence in our vocations. Why not make giving something we study, discuss, and sharpen, striving for excellence?

Making the Macedonian church as an example, the Apostle Paul said;  The Macedonian believers gave "as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability" (2 Corinthians 8:3). What does it mean to give beyond our ability? It means pushing our giving past beyond our surplus. It means giving when the bottom line says we can't anymore.  Paul encourages the predominately Gentile Christians in Corinth to give generously to an offering being collected for the predominately Jewish Christian church in Jerusalem. You are not a well-rounded Christian until you have learned to give.  Finally it says in II Corinthians 8:7, "See that you also excel in this grace of giving."

December 4: THANKSGIVING SUNDAY

Title: iEXCEL in Thanksgiving
2 Corinthians 8:8 (NLT)
8 I am not commanding you to do this. But I am testing how genuine your love is by comparing
it with the eagerness of the other churches.

Paul first reports the sacrificial giving of churches in Macedonia. His example of comparison may inspire an eagerness on the part of the Corinthians not to be outdone by the Macedonian churches. Read back on verse 1, instead of starting with a request for money, Paul begins with an example of sacrificial giving. “We want you to know” is the usual way he goes about introducing new information to his readers (v. 1). In this case, the new information concerns the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches.

The severe trial that the Macedonian churches experienced was of a sort that left them in a condition of extreme poverty. The phrase is literally "down-to-the-depth poverty" But despite adverse conditions, God has enabled the Macedonians to financially assist needy Christians whom they did not personally know. It is easy to see how the wealthy can well up in generous giving. But how is it possible for extreme poverty to overflow in a wealth of kindness?

Macedonian generosity was possible because they gave themselves first to the Lord and only then to Paul (v. 5). Their dominant concern was how best to serve Christ. It is here that they exceeded Paul's expectations. They gave out of their poverty because of the sincerity of their commitment to Christ as Lord. They excel in thanksgiving.

December 4: THANKSGIVING SUNDAY

Title: Excellent God
2 Corinthians 8:9
“9 You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”

The Apostle Paul is saying to the church of Cortith that they knew very well the generosity of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The word know means they fully and deeply understand who the Lord Jesus Chirst is and what He has done for them. Most of all Jesus rich as he was, he gave it all away for us—in one stroke he became poor and we became rich. In verse 9 he begins by saying, "For you know." The word "for" links us up with the prior verse. In verse 8 he says, "I'm not speaking this as a command but just to prove your love." In other words, I don't need to command you to do this because you know how Christ gave.

Christ's humbling is what Paul holds up as an example of what it means to give. There was a time when Jesus was rich.  He was rich, when everything in the universe belonged to Him. All the hosts of heaven bowed down in continuous worship of His name. He owned it all, everything was His, but He gave it up voluntarily. He deliberately impoverished himself. As Paul put it in Philippians, "He humbled himself" (Philippians 2:8), and He became a man, just a poor man.  Early on in the life of the church the people who did have money sold what they had, took the money and gave to the poor and those were not resources that could be replenished(Acts 2). When you think about that, how wrong it seems to withhold our gifts from those who are in need around us. How can we hold our prosperity to ourselves when our brothers and sisters are in need?
